On March 3rd, the 15th day of the first lunar month, the Beilin Square in the third teaching area of Yangen University was bustling with people, ablaze with lights and filled with excitement. The Yangen University Lantern Festival Cultural and Art Festival, themed “Golden Horse Brings Good Fortune and Celebrates the Lantern Festival; Happy and Fulfilling Chinese New Year”, was held here with great enthusiasm. School leaders and teachers and students gathered together to guess lantern riddles and appreiate lanterns..., Celebrate the festival together and share a cultural feast.
As the first ideological and political class of the spring semester in the school, this Lantern Festival Cultural and Art Festival launched a variety of interactive experience activities such as the Lantern Festival exhibition, on-site lantern-making, and sending blessings through calligraphy, apart from retaining classic projects such as tasting tangyuan, guessing lantern riddles, garden parties, and cultural and sports joint performances. Teachers and students deepen their understanding and love for China's fine traditional culture through hands-on participation and personal experience.

Most of the lanterns are made by students on campus. They are either ingeniously conceived, vividly patterned or made of novel materials. They are both ornamental, artistic and innovative, decorating the entire campus with joy, harmony and a strong festive atmosphere. More than 4,000 riddles, including idiom riddles, place name riddles, science popularization riddles, book and poetry riddles, were neatly arranged, attracting teachers and students to compete to solve them, experiencing the charm of words and the beauty of knowledge between the lines.

The garden party area was filled with laughter and joy. In addition, activities such as the delicious food exhibition and sale on the tip of the Tongue, the exhibition and sale of entrepreneurial projects and merchants, the charity sale of handicrafts by the mental health counseling center, and on-site lantern-making experiences also attracted a large number of teachers and students to participate. Through the rich and colorful activities, they felt the warmth and harmony of the campus family.

Every year on the Lantern Festival, the school provides all teachers and students with steaming hot “Zhuangyuan Pills” for free. This is a tradition that the school has adhered to for decades, symbolizing that teachers and students will have a prosperous future in their work and studies in the new semester. Teachers and students savored bowl after bowl of steaming, soft, glutinous and sweet tangyuan, which warmed their stomachs and hearts.

Night fell and the street lamps came on. At 7:00 p.m., the Lantern Festival cultural and sports joint performance organized by the School of Art and Education and the Department of Physical Education was splendidly staged in the center of Beilin Square, presenting an unforgettable visual feast to teachers and students.
The Lantern Festival celebrated by teachers and students together every year has been a traditional activity that Yangen University has maintained since 1994 and has continued for 32 years. This activity is not only a vivid practice of the spirit of “loving the country and promoting education, benefiting the hometown” of the school’s founder, Mr. Wu Qingxing, and Chairman Lin Hui, but also an important vehicle for the school to promote excellent traditional Chinese culture and carry out patriotic education. Through the activities, teachers and students enhanced their sense of identity and pride in the national culture in an immersive experience, and further ignited their youthful enthusiasm to take on responsibilities on the new journey.
