On the evening of November 29th, the final of the 22nd Freshman Singer Competition, hosted by the Music Association and co-organized by the Student Union's Department of Arts and Sports, the Dance Association, the Public Relations Association, and Lide College, was held in the Puzhao Auditorium of the First Teaching Area. Faculty members from the School of Arts and Education, Zhao Yanxing, Guo Tingxu, Yu Xiaotong, and more, were invited to serve as judges.


The competition, which began on November 8th, saw 12 groups of contestants advance to the finals after preliminary and semi-final rounds. At the finals, the Music Association's Lonely Seahorse Band opened the show with a high-energy performance of What Makes You Beautiful, instantly igniting the atmosphere. Following this, the 12 freshman singers took to the stage one by one, each showcasing their unique talents. Ma Xuesong opened with a gentle vocal performance of Mercury, her delicate and melodious singing perfectly capturing the romance and melancholy of the song; Ji Wenjie sang of a youthful attitude of refusing to drift with the tide with Mediocrity; Song Shiyu's Passing Through the World was clear and healing; Lin Kexin's Father's Prose Poem was full of warmth; Wu Yiqian's Deer Be Free was carefree and fearless; Zhang Qikai's Three's Trip was deeply affectionate; Lan Jialing's Red Rose, White Rose was delicate and moving; Wei Ruozhuo's By the Lake Baikal brought the audience into a tranquil and distant realm; Pan Yixin's Willing to Let Go expressed the insights of growing up; Dai Quanying's What I Miss conveyed surging emotions; Li Mingqian's Gray Track presented a unique story of youth; Yu Yanmeng's The Thief of Time used her gentle voice to tell the beautiful story of time's passage; each new singer gave their all, bringing a visual and auditory feast to the teachers and students.
During the event, the Dance Association supported the Freshman Singer Competition with a dynamic dance performance of Blue Valentine. The dancers intertwined graceful movements with dazzling lighting effects, bringing a touch of relaxation and joy to the singers amidst the intense competition.

After fierce competition, Wu Yiqian won first place with her outstanding rendition of What Does It Matter If I Win the World After Losing You, while Ma Xuesong won second place with her heartfelt performance of Father's Prose Poem. Ji Wenjie won third place with his brilliant rendition of Red Embroidery. Dai Quanying, Lan Jialing, Li Mingqian, Lin Kexin, Pan Yixin, Song Shiyu, Wei Ruozhuo, Yu Yanmeng, and Zhang Qikai received awards for outstanding singers.
Listening to the echoes of youth and witnessing the blossoming of new voices, this Freshman Singer Competition not only provided a stage for students newly entering the campus to showcase their musical talents but also inspired Yang'en students to weave their dreams with song, pursue the light with melody, and bravely forge ahead on their path of growth.
